Stover is a city in Morgan County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,094 at the 2010 census. The city is located at the intersection of Missouri routes 52 and 135, approximately seven miles east of Versailles and eleven miles west of Cole Camp. Stover was founded in 1875 and named after John Hubler Stover, a U.S. Representative from Missouri. The city grew rapidly in the early 1900s, due to the arrival of the St. Louis-Kansas City Colorado Railroad. Today, Stover is a quiet, rural community with a strong sense of community.         STOVER’S CITY-WIDE SPRING

          LIMB PICK-UP AND CLEAN-UP DAY

 The city maintenance crew will be taking around the Chipper for small limbs (no bigger than six” in diameter). These limbs must be stacked neatly in front of your house by the street.

The limbs will be picked up on April 6th and April 7th and April 8th, 2026, weather permitting.

 The City of Stover will sponsor a clean-up day for city residents on Thursday, May 7th, 2026. Large items including furniture and appliances will be picked up. A limit of three appliances per household will be allowed . Older refrigerators with lever handle doors must have the doors removed or be set out with the door side on the ground. Chemicals, yard waste, brush or hazardous materials CANNOT be picked up. All items must be put out on the street no sooner than Monday, May 4th, 2026, and all smaller items must be neatly stacked, boxed, or bundled. Old tires are no longer being accepted for drop off at the city shed. Contact your tire dealer for info on tire disposal at your own expense.

Businesses will not be included in this pickup.

The City Council meets at 5:30 P.M. for the City Council Meeting on the Third Monday of each month at City Hall at 107 W. 2nd ST. The public is invited to attend. Our Council Packets are available for viewing at any time.
